Vestergaard, who joined from Southampton in 2021, has seen irregular playtime under multiple managers. Meanwhile, homegrown defender Nelson made 27 appearances last term before being omitted from the final matches by Gary Rowett, who acknowledged the player’s need for greater consistency.
