LEC fines Karmine Corp, Movistar KOI and player for misconduct at Madrid event

The LEC fined Karmine Corp, Movistar KOI, and player Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun a total of €12,000 for misconduct during the Roadtrip event in Madrid on June 1. The penalties followed public disputes and offensive language exchanged between the teams and players.
Riot Games issued financial penalties totaling €12,000 to Karmine Corp, Movistar KOI, and player Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun for misconduct during the LEC Roadtrip event in Madrid. The fines followed a public digital shouting match and use of offensive language linked to the event on June 1.
The dispute began three weeks prior when an online clip criticized attendance at the event’s opening match. Movistar KOI founder Ibai Llanos responded on X, commenting that considering Karmine Corp’s poor play, the crowd size was surprisingly high. Karmine Corp founder Kameto then engaged in a public backlash on stream, escalating into a heated exchange and ultimately leading to the cancellation of a planned showmatch between the two teams.
The league considered this public corporate bickering as “Conduct unbecoming of an LEC team member.” Both organizations were fined €5,000 each and received formal warnings. Additionally, Movistar KOI midlaner Jojopyun was fined €2,000 for using explicit language during a post-match broadcast interview, where he aggressively promised to defeat Karmine Corp in the next game. This penalty marks Jojopyun’s second formal warning for explicit on-broadcast language within a year.
The timing of these financial penalties adds tension ahead of a scheduled best-of-five series between the two teams on Saturday. The winner will secure a spot in the split finals and earn an invitation to the Mid-Season Invitational, raising the stakes for any future in-game trash talk.
