Morocco faces uncertainty over starters Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and Noussair Mazraoui after both suffered injuries in their 1-1 friendly draw with Norway on Sunday. The team is awaiting fitness updates ahead of their opening World Cup match against Brazil at MetLife Stadium.

Morocco faces a double injury concern ahead of their World Cup showdown against Brazil after starters Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and Noussair Mazraoui were hurt during their 1-1 draw with Norway on Sunday. Both players left early in the warm-up match, which was Morocco’s final preparation before the tournament kicks off in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Ezzalzouli was substituted at half-time due to a leg injury, while Mazraoui exited in the 29th minute with a shoulder problem following a tough challenge. Morocco took an early lead in the game before Norway equalized with 15 minutes remaining.

Coach Mohamed Ouahbi commented on the situation, stating that the team showed promising qualities against a strong opponent despite not securing a win. He highlighted that significant changes to the lineup, with 10 players rotated, made managing playing time crucial. “Two players went off injured. We’re waiting to see how serious it is. I’m more concerned about that,” he said.

Morocco were surprise semi-finalists at the last World Cup and hope for another strong run at the 2026 finals. Their Group D opener against five-time champions Brazil is scheduled at MetLife Stadium.
